Continuous Process Catalysts

Continuous Process Catalysts are heterogeneous catalysts for fixed bed or fluid bed type reactions that are carried out in a continuous mode. They are frequently used in the production of larger scale chemicals, e.g. bulk chemicals, although they have numerous other applications. The main metal components can be either base metals or precious metals. Very often, combinations of base metals are used. The Fixed Bed Catalysts can be pellets, tablets or extrudates. Alumina, silica and titania are the most commonly used support materials for our Fixed Bed Catalysts.

Thanks to our long history in Continuous Process Catalysts, we have built up a large portfolio of proprietary catalysts and have catalysts for many reaction classes. Our catalyst portfolio may already contain a suitable catalyst for your process. To identify this catalyst we can use either classical sampling and testing or our High Throughput Screening equipment.

We market our Continuous Process Catalysts under three brand names.

Noblyst^® series

Precious metal catalysts (e.g. Pd, Pt, Ru, Au) on various support materials. Evonik has wide experience in the manufacture of precious metal catalysts and provides a full service package including precious metals management and precious metal recovery from spent catalysts.

Octolyst^® series

Base metal catalysts in which the active components are Group VIII metals and optionally Cu, Cr and other elements. Evonik offers base metal catalysts with both high and low loading.

Aerolyst^® series

Ultrapure fixed-bed support materials with defined surface chemistry and very narrow pore-size distribution (absence of micropores).
