Donors – Catylen® D series

Donors are silane compounds with a hydrolysable silane head (consisting of two or three methoxy or ethoxy groups) and a hydrophobic and more or less bulky tail. They are used in the preparation of Ziegler-Natta catalysts leading to a modification of the resulting catalyst. When these Ziegler-Natta systems catalyse the polymerisation of propylene the donors interact by a complex mechanism with the catalytic centres, controlling the tacticity of the resulting polypropylene. Donors therefore have an important influence on the quality and properties of the polymer product. Donors can be used neat or diluted in mineral oil, and mixtures of donors can also be used.

Evonik offers 14 different donors in neat form, though dilutions and blends are also available. Standard and custom packaging is also provided.
