Acetylene Hydrogenation

The catalyst Noblyst^® E 39 H is designed for the selective hydrogenation of acetylene to ethylene within the HCl recycle stream in VCM production plants. More than 65 % of all VCM plants worldwide use a hydrogenation unit to achieve a higher ethylene dichloride (EDC) purity by minimizing the byproduct formation of higher chlorinated species in the oxychlorination process. Noblyst^® E 39 H shows a superior performance and has a very long lifetime.

The catalyst Noblyst^® E 39 H is a proprietary type catalyst and is part of the Vinnolit technology. Also the next generation high performance Noblyst^® E 39 KHL catalyst was successfully implemented into plants where a operation at high space velocities is required.
